Tropical Storm Alberto Impacts Northeastern Mexico and Southern Texas

  • Effective Date: June 20, 2024
  • Affected Regions: North America
  • Advisory Type: Weather

Dear Valued Customer,

Tropical Storm Alberto, the first tropical storm of the Atlantic season, is currently affecting northeastern Mexico and southern Texas. The storm poses various hazards, including heavy rainfall, coastal flooding, and strong winds. Alberto is expected to bring substantial rainfall to northeastern Mexico, including the states of Coahuila, Tamaulipas, and Nuevo León.

Supply chain impacts

On the coast, the ports of Altamira and Tampico have reopened, but with reduced speed due to some security controls. Customs and port will work extended hours in order to clear backlogs.

Surface transportation providers are expecting delays due to wind, heavy rain, and flooding. While impacts might not be as severe as previous storms, delays and congestions are expected at Laredo, Eagle Pass, McAllen, and Brownsville after the storm slows down and until flooding and mud recedes.

This communication was created with information from the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center.
