Hurricane Beryl Impacting Texas Coastal Region

  • Effective Date: July 08, 2024
  • Affected Regions: North America
  • Advisory Type: Weather
Dear Valued Customer,

Hurricane Beryl is currently impacting the coastal region of Texas and the effects of the storm are being felt across all transportation modes. We anticipate possible capacity supply constraints in and around the impacted areas as the storm moves inland and are keeping an eye on emergency response needs as power outages and flooding are possible. The latest impacts are below, but please reach out to your C.H. Robinson team directly for up-to-the-minute updates.

TRUCKLOAD
Road closures and power outages are expected to have some impact on available capacity during the storm and in the immediate aftermath. Your C.H. Robinson team is here to support you with planning, alternative solutions, and tracking your freight.

LESS THAN TRUCKLOAD (LTL)
Expect that some LTL terminals in the area could see limited operations and possible closures depending on flooding and power outages. Shipment delays can be expected for any shipment into or out of the Gulf Coast region of Texas at this time.

INTERMODAL
BNSF Railway has shut down operations in the Houston area. Trains coming into or departing Houston are now stopped, they are securing their five yards and freight will not be in-gated at their intermodal facility until noon Monday unless conditions allow an earlier reopening. Delays on other railways are also possible as impacts to specific yards will depend on their exact location relative to the storm.

OCEAN
The Port of Houston will remain closed Monday as the storm moves through the area. The Ports of Brownsville, Corpus Christi and Galveston halted all vessel movements and terminal operations beginning Sunday and those restrictions remained in place as of Monday morning.
