Hurricane Beryl Impacts Remain in Houston and Surrounding Area

  • Effective Date: July 09, 2024
  • Affected Regions: North America
  • Advisory Type: Weather
Dear Valued Customer,

As the remnants of Hurricane Beryl move across the US Midwest, power outages and facility closures remain in Houston and the Gulf Coast region of Texas, impacting supply chains. The latest impacts on transportation modes are below, but please reach out to your C.H. Robinson team directly for up-to-the-minute updates.

TRUCKLOAD
Power outages are keeping many shipper facilities closed and will have continued impact on freight movement. Some capacity constraints may remain as facilities begin to re-open and catch up. Your C.H. Robinson team is here to support you with planning, alternative solutions, and tracking your freight.

LESS THAN TRUCKLOAD (LTL)
Many LTL terminals in the area remain closed and will have limited service availability in neighboring cities. Shipment delays can be expected to continue for any shipment into or out of the Gulf Coast region of Texas until terminals come back online and are able to work through backlogs.

INTERMODAL
BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad operations in the Houston area have both resumed but expect delays to remain as train movement may continue to be slow through recovery efforts. Train movement has also resumed on tracks jointly operated by the CPKC and Union Pacific railroads in the Brownsville area.

OCEAN
The Port of Houston remains closed at this time. Port authorities are assessing damage and repairs to determine when operations can resume. The Ports of Brownsville, Corpus Christi and Galveston were all able to resume normal operations after the storm passed on Monday.
